Last Thursday, I attended the first pre-production meeting for the film I will be working on for the next four months. The play is "Diantha's Crossing," being created into an hour long film for BYUTV and KBYU. It is going to be a great team and I can see each other becoming fast friends. The director will a great person to be able to work with and learn from.
This film sounds amazing, and I can't wait to read through the script. It works with several different pioneer stories with themes of the atonement, forgiveness, and the need to find a place in your heart to accept the weakness of men as they do bad things out of fear. There are four main characters, but Diantha is portrayed at three different ages. We will be using this age shift to portray memories and there will be a lot of still photographs integrated within the film. I am up to this challenge and feel so privilaged to assist in the creation of this film. I hear it is so touching, which I can see by the ideas already in progress in the creation.
From September 2009 to March 2011, I will be posting to my other blog. For those who want to follow my mission experiences in Florida Fort Lauderdale, please go to:

Stagehands have astonishing learning curves. It's not unusual for stage crews to have trucks full of unknown scenery arrive at a theatre on Monday, which we need to assemble and understand to open a show we've never seen before... on Tuesday night.
Most people, if confronted with such a task, would flatly say it was impossible.
Stagehands find ways to make it possible. We learn quickly, we draw upon years of experience, skills and training, and (all too often) we drink lots of coffee and work all night.
I've had one longstanding handicap in my career as a stagehand. I don't drink coffee.
