After that, we went to eat at a Mexican restaurant, then off to Walker Art Center for an evening out. We first stopped at the Spoon bridge and Cherry sculpture ... unfortunately the cherry had been removed due to restoration. awwwww.... Then we walked around the museum seeing all the modern artwork for a few hours until the dance show "New World Series: New York" began. We had all gotten tickets to see it, and let's say it is definitely contemporary dance. I really enjoyed it and loved the interpretations I got out of it, but it would turn out to be not quite the original intent ... but it's modern so I can interpret it however I want. HA!
From September 2009 to March 2011, I will be posting to my other blog. For those who want to follow my mission experiences in Florida Fort Lauderdale, please go to:

Day Four: Minneapolis
Well, it was an early morning and we drove for five hours from Des Moines to Minneapolis. Our first stop was a LecDem (Lecture Demonstration) at Southwest High School in Minneapolis. What a beautiful auditorium. The outside was old and worn down, but the inside had been redone two years ago. I got to play with a digital console!! Don't usually see that in high schools. BYU just got some this past year! Cool... There was some stressful moments as there was miscommunication and misinterpretations between Pat (the Artistic Director) and I on the running of sound for the LecDems, but we're good.

Stagehands have astonishing learning curves. It's not unusual for stage crews to have trucks full of unknown scenery arrive at a theatre on Monday, which we need to assemble and understand to open a show we've never seen before... on Tuesday night.
Most people, if confronted with such a task, would flatly say it was impossible.
Stagehands find ways to make it possible. We learn quickly, we draw upon years of experience, skills and training, and (all too often) we drink lots of coffee and work all night.
I've had one longstanding handicap in my career as a stagehand. I don't drink coffee.
