hmm...

Well, I am totally not with life right now. But no surprise there. I haven't had my ten day break from the semester that I've grown use to. Since I began working with dance, I've gone on a mid-semester tour each semester. Usually it's around the second month of school so right when I lose care for classes, I take a short break then get back into school again. This semester, I was worried to not have the opportunity to go on tour. Thankfully, I will be going with ballet, but it's right before Thanksgiving break. So instead of a week break, I'm getting two and a half. It's going to really throw me off!!!!

I just find out that I will be leaving Friday morning at 3:30am. Gotta love early morning departure times. I'm quite surprised we aren't leaving Thursday. Our first performance is in Denver on Friday so apparently we'll drive all morning and somehow be able to start load-in at the venue at 2pm. Sigh ... I don't like bus rides. There is no way of getting comfortable unless you bring a blanket, pillow, and get a spot on the floor. Hmmmm .... quite tempting.

Yesterday, I decided to try and find some good bible movies to watch and discovered a great collection made over ten years ago. It was a TNT Movie Collection of Bible stories, including Esther, Joseph, Solomon, etc. I am greatly impressed with their retelling of the story of Joseph. Very well done. It tells the story of Tamar in there (which quite surprised me) and gives a view of Joseph's Egyptian wife. I'm very impressed and would buy it in the future. The easiest way of watching these is by going to YouTube ... That's how I watch it! Keyword would be [Joseph - Part 1] or [Esther - Part 1].

Well ... I guess it is about that time for Christmas music and Christmas sales. Quite sad since it's not Thanksgiving yet. The BYU Bookstore is tomorrow. I really want to go - three free Children's books for the first 25 customers - but I have class at that time. Oh well. Also, it would seem that the money I thought I had is no longer there due to rent. Joy. It's so hard to save money. I have it for a time then required payments come up. And then I have a weakness for books which doesn't help any. Good thing I am only taking three credits next semester or I would never be able to pay for tuition! Thank goodness I have until the end of December to pay tuition. Then I can get my paychecks to collect together. With tour and Christmas Around the World, I should have enough hours. Too bad I accidentally forgot to submit my hours last pay period. No paycheck! But I didn't have a lot of hours to submit. It'll fit for the hours I won't be working this week.

This week, I just need to pack everything together for tour. Pay period ends Friday so I can put in the first day of tour and those hours I forgot to submit last period. It all evens out in the end. No matter what, I will be getting paid for the hours I worked ... of course I forgot to keep track of my hours last week for Ballet Showcase so I'll probably be forgetting a couple of hours. Oh well ... it'll all balance out in the end with rounding and such. Gotta love my job!

We'll miss you at church then. Have a fun time!

Stagehands have astonishing learning curves. It's not unusual for stage crews to have trucks full of unknown scenery arrive at a theatre on Monday, which we need to assemble and understand to open a show we've never seen before... on Tuesday night.

Most people, if confronted with such a task, would flatly say it was impossible.

Stagehands find ways to make it possible. We learn quickly, we draw upon years of experience, skills and training, and (all too often) we drink lots of coffee and work all night.

I've had one longstanding handicap in my career as a stagehand. I don't drink coffee.
